Box Lacrosse Program Information

Box is fast paced and allows players to get a lot of "touches" on the ball. This improves players' stick work, finishing, team work, physicality and transition. As these directly translate to the field game, our coaches will work with players to develop and enhance the necessary skills to excel throughout our programs.

Location
El Segundo Recreation Park
Roller Hockey Rink

Address
401 Sheldon St, El Segundo, CA 90245

**BOYS Please arrive 20 minutes prior to game time to warm up and do stick work.

*Please note, we are not offering this for K1 boys. Please see Shark Skills for an age appropriate program.

What is Box lacrosse?

“If I had my choice, I would have every player under the age of 12 play box lacrosse exclusively or at least a majority of the time.  The number of touches of the ball and the ability to develop better stick skills in a game of box lacrosse far surpasses what happens on a field.  Learning how to pass and catch in traffic, understanding how to shoot, and developing a sense of physicality are all positive traits developed by the box game.”

- Coach Bill Tierney, University of Denver, 6X NCAA Champion.

WHY BOX?

At SBLC, we recognize the benefit box brings to developing not only individual skill, but various team concepts that directly translate to the boys and girls field games. Additionally, given the fast pace and "up and down" nature of the games box lacrosse is extremely fun to play. With opportunities for boys and girls K - 8th grade, we view our fall box programs as the perfect way for our athletes to keep their sticks in their hands during the offseason.
